Land of the Rising Sun - Day: More Skylines (and some other cars)
Car-Nel's take on the impeccable Kyosho Hakosuka (featuring Kenmeri), and a random visit to a parking lot.
Warning - Image heavy.
For those who are not too familiar with the brand, Car - Nel is a brand from Japanese die cast er, modifier (aftermarket specialist, maybe) Hiko7. They get the stock cars from Kyosho, and add a host of additional features (or improve the existing features), to release them under the brands RAI (more focused on 1/43) and Car - Nel (1/64 for most part). The car at the center of today's post is the Car - Nel Nissan Skyline GT-R (KPGC10), apparently in the famous Street Custom guise (as indicated by the chin spoiler). Here's a small comparison between the stock Skyline and Car - Nel version for you to get a better idea.
Car - Nel already had a great platform to improve, and improve they did (I leave it to you to figure out what Hiko7 added to the base Kyosho). Interestingly though, the CN loses SKYLINE badge on the rear, as well as the rear quarter embellishment.
The Car - Nel duet was never in my watchlist, nor bucket list. However, a visit to a nearby hobby show changed matters fast; both the cars set me back by 1.5k yen (circa 14$), an absolute bargain considering that the white regular Hako cost me more than 1k, and that is a pretty good price (it came with some minor faults and without a box). The Car - Nels are not perfect either (could easily explain the discounts), with the occasional detailing mishap and somewhat awkward wheel attachment (esp. in the Kenmeri), but those are absolutely forgettable for the price I paid.
My sheer luck-o-meter was hitting F20C revs on that day, as I got an absolutely coincidental chance to visit Daikoku Futo in the evening. It was not the best days according to my friend who generously took me to the place (I owe the entire day to him, as he was the one who informed about the hobby show as well), but there were some 'good' cars; 1:1 scale.
Star of the show for me. Note the rear view mirrors!
Good day, it was. Unfortunately the camera battery gave up midway.
Thanks for stopping by! Have, er, an awesome Monday!
