Land Rover reveal new James Bond inspired Defender
Just when you thought Bond couldn't get any cooler
With the release of the 25th James Bond film on September 30th in the UK just around the corner, the internet is preparing for a film that promises a lot of exciting things. For starters, this will be Daniel Craig's last outing as Bond as he leaves behind the flashy cars and Vesper Martinis.
What also might interest you is the range of cars that No Time to Die will feature. The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, the V8 Vantage Volante from Living Daylights, and of course the iconic DB5 will make an appearance. Snippets of the trailer also revealed that Bond will be driving the Aston Martin Valkyrie which was designed in collaboration with F1 design legend Adrian Newey.
Another key car making its way into the film is the Land Rover Defender. The ultimate off-roader has now been made even more special with the V8 James Bond Edition. Yep. You can configure a Defender 90 or 110 to match the exact specification of the car that's driven in the film.
The perks of the Bond Edition are features like an Extended Black Pack containing 22-inch gloss black alloys, Xenon Blue front brake callipers, and a 'Defender 007' rear badge. If that's not enough then wait until you step inside whilst stepping over the customised 007 treadplates and a 007-inspired start up animation for the infotainment system.
If that sounds like your dream car well I've got some bad news. Only 300 Bond Editions will be manufactured worldwide. Just 15 of them will be landing in the UK; five Defender 90 and 10 Defender 110 styles. Each Defender will sport a laser etching displaying that it is ‘one of 300’ and will be accompanied by the SV Bespoke logo.
“The Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition is an exclusive take on the most powerful production Defender ever made, inspired by vehicles on screen in No Time To Die. It represents a meeting of two great British brands and is a unique celebration of Land Rover’s 38-year association with James Bond,” explained Finbar McFall, Brand Director at Land Rover.
This car is no slowpoke. The Bond Edition is powered by a supercharged five-litre 518bhp engine, producing a whopping 625Nm of torque. As usual, the power goes through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine in the Defender V8 90 accelerates from 0-60mph in just under five seconds with a top speed of 149mph.
It's safe to say that this car just oozes Bond. Everything about its appearance and detail make this the ultimate choice of motor for the Land Rover and 007 enthusiast. The icing in the cake would be a cocktail bar in the boot.
