Land Rover's V8 Defender pricing is causing a bit of a stir
It's basically Range Rover territory
The all-new Land Rover Defender has been around for a little over a year now and after the 110 and 90 (more recently), JLR introduced the long-awaited V8 version, which is powerful, exciting, and expensive.
The two-door 90 V8, the cheapest (or perhaps we should say 'least expensive') V8 available starts at $97,200 in the US and £98,505 in the UK and that's a lot of cash. The V8 Carpathian Edition, with all the bells and whistles, costs $100,400 and $107,200 (in the US) respectively.
The Defeder V8 is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 (duh), putting out 518 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque, good enough for a 0-60 time of just 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph. But is it worth the extra cash?
The V8 models are nearly twice as expensive as the models that are powered by the Ingenium 6-cylinder engines and, more to the point, they're also dangerously close to the Range Rover in terms of pricing.
