Kia has refreshed the Ceed for 2022 with subtle exterior design revisions, the addition of the new Kia logo, a new shift knob for GT and GT-Line trims, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a USB port for rear passengers. The engine lineup, which consists entirely of turbocharged units, starts with a 1.0-liter petrol mild-hybrid three-cylinder generating 120 horsepower; the LPG-accepting variant only generates 100. Uplevel engines include a 1.5-liter petrol four developing 160 horsepower, a 1.6-liter petrol four developing 204, and a 1.6-liter diesel mild hybrid four developing 134. All of these are paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, but the 1.5 is also available with a six-speed manual. Finally, the 1.6 petrol has a plug-in hybrid version that produces 141 horsepower, can travel 36 miles (58 km) solely on electricity, and is coupled to a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Pricing starts at £20,105 ($27,602/€23,770).
GMC has refreshed the Sierra 1500 with the addition of Super Cruise, a redesigned interior, and two new trim levels. The Denali Ultimate is the most feature-filled trim, and the AT4X is the GMC equivalent of the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2, designed for greater off-road capability. It includes DSSV (dynamic suspension spool valve) dampers, a further ground clearance increase, rock sliders, and electronic locking differentials. Other changes include a torque increase for the four-cylinder engine from 350 pound-feet to 420, and towing capacity increase for the turbodiesel six-cylinder from 9,200 pounds to 13,200 (4,173, 5,987 kg). Pricing starts at $32,495 (£23,616/€27,900).
Rivian's electric delivery van will use the model names 500, 700, and 900 to denote the cargo capacity in cubic feet (14,158, 19,821, 25,485 liters), and will come in trim levels Z (for Amazon) and S (for other companies). So far, there are only three known drivetrain options: single-motor front-wheel-drive, dual-motor front-wheel-drive, and dual-motor all-wheel-drive. Pricing has not been announced.
The new Honda Civic Si, only available as a sedan, is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque; the only transmission available is a six-speed manual. Other performance figures and pricing have not been revealed.
Chevrolet Performance has created the ZZ632/1000, a V8 crate engine displacing 10.3 liters that generates 1,004 horsepower and 876 pound-feet of torque.
The MINI Cooper S Sidewalk Edition is an appearance package that brings the price up to $39,750 (£28,888/€34,129).
BMW has tweaked the M135i's suspension for reduced roll and improved steering feel. Pricing has not been updated.
