Fulfilling dreams

Stefan's big dream was to own a classic Aston Martin one day. But as we all know, they come with a rather hefty price tag. So instead of becoming Bond himself, Stefan settled for the villain role and started searching for Jaguar E-type's. Not a bad car at all, but just not his big dream. But luckily for Stefan, his genes never intended for him to fit into an E-type. He was just too tall.

Some higher force must have known this, because one day the stars aligned, and his father-in-law (a mechanic at a renowned garage) contacted Stefan, telling him he met an opera singer, that needed cash fast and wanted to sell his Aston for an affordable price. Stefan did not let this opportunity go to waste and bought the Aston straight away.

An awful maiden voyage

Stefan's first trip with his newfound love should turn out to be a nightmare.

A good friend of his invited Stefan to attend his wedding in Como. Stefan thought it would be a great idea to take his new Aston on that trip across Switzerland. The roads to Como were beautiful, to say the least. And the ride of the Aston was exquisite.

As they eventually arrived at their hotel in Como, Stefan parked the Aston outside the hotel and greeted his wife and son whilst his friend drove the car the last couple of meters into the estate.

The gate knob, that holds the two gates together, was a little too high and Stefan's friend damaged the underbody of the car and tore off the whole exhaust system.

His son started laughing about the loud car and Stefan too started laughing out loud. But the laugh was short-lived because at that exact moment he knew, he'd not be traveling back with the Aston.

Fixing the bond car

Back in Switzerland, he brought the car to his trusted mechanic, which started fixing the Aston. But one day his father-in-law called him and asked him if he had heard the terrible news, that the workshop went bankrupt and the owner committed suicide over it. Stefan was shocked and could not believe that he lost such a valuable friend over something as stupid as a bankruptcy.

In the end, life goes on and Stefan had to look for a new mechanic who could fix his car so that he could enjoy it once again. Eventually, he found the right one, and after twelve months of originally receiving the car it was back on the road again and Stefan was enjoying every moment with it.

How is it driving a bond car?

Well, there are pros and cons. First of all the shape of the car is just beautiful. Then there are the looks of the spectators. They don't know what they're looking at and a couple of people even think it's a Mustang :). And the ride itself. It's ultra-comfortable. But that comes at the price of acceleration, shifting times, and the weight of the car. It's definitely no sports car, which might surprise some. It's more of a GT and that's what I love about it.

As always, thanks Stefan for sharing your Story with us, and it was a pleasure hooning up the Tremola with you in true 007 fashion. Oh and send Miss Moneypenny our greetings, will you?
