The Frankfurt Motor Show is set to host the public reveal of some very important cars for 2018, with the likes of the new Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari Portofino and BMW M5 spearheading what should be an epic show. These cars are all set to be bulldozed into the background however by the almighty F1-derived hypercar from Mercedes-AMG.

Codenamed the Project One, the hybrid hypercar is touted to revolutionise the performance car game and will surely go head-to-head with a similar offering from a partnership between Aston Martin and Red Bull, known as the Valkyrie.

We've seen under-skeleton shots of the car that have shown four electric motors split between the axles which are coupled with a road-tuned 1.6-litre turbocharged internal combustion engine from the current Mercedes F1 car. Power output is set to come in at around 1000bhp, with that grunt being used to power a body that should be festooned in aerodynamic trickery.

Further F1 tech comes in the shape of MGU-K and MGU-H energy recovery systems (KERS and HERS effectively) which will extend the capabilities of the Project One far past those of the current hypercar holy trinity. jjjhgmfdlcmv;lfdf;'

The Frankfurt Motor Show is but a fortnight away so Mercedes-AMG has wheeled out its F1 star, Lewis Hamilton, to take us through the evolution of AMG, culminating in an obvious prelude to the introduction of the hypercar.

We. Can't. Wait.
