Licence and permit validity gets extended to the end of the year
Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announce the extension
Reflecting on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has extended the validity of documents like permits and licences until 31st December 2020.
Considering the virus-prone situation at hand which resulted in road documents getting expired without a chance of renewal, MoRTH has announced this extension to advise enforcement authorities into deeming these documents as valid until 31st December 2020.
The list of documents which fall under this extension comprises of fitness, permit (all types), license, registration or any other concerned certificate related to Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.
This is the third time such an extension is being passed. The previous two extensions were announced on 30th March and 9th June this year which prolonged the validity deadline to 30th June and 30th September respectively.
Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari further tweeted, “To reduce inconvenience due to the following of social distancing norms during COVID-19 outbreak, MoRTH has issued an advisory to all state governments to further extend the validity of the documents related to Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989, such as Fitness, Permits (All Types), Driving License, Registration or any other concerned documents until 31st December 2020”.
