Like it or not, you must thank the ID.3

It's the debut arsonist of Drivetribe's least favourite brand by a long shot.

For the record (always have to do this now because some of you people slit throats over interpretations of things) the ID3 is not the bane of Tesla's existence. It simply isn't, no one car can do that to them in the current market. But what this is all about is the growing one v one status the world is granting Volkswagen and the work of the Musketeer. Since 2012 when the Model S was first released, it's been sort of a one team game in the EV battlefield. As far as I'm concerned Tesla have done well and will continue to do so for the time being, so if this is bad news for your pathetic little stances on the automotive industry, I'd go ahead and get the tissues now, not that this is a shocking revelation by any means anyway. Just hurts some to hear, you know the sort.

Nonetheless, I'm no evangelist for the brand either. Tesla would rank about 18th in my list of preferred brands, and that's not even having actually constructed the list. But Volkswagen are in on the game in today's world, and when Toyota get involved we can say hello to competition like no other I would project. As far as reviews are concerned the Model 3 of which this article's spotlight ID3 rivals best is still a better car. Elon still dominating? Not my place to say, but that's how things are suggested to be by the masses. And that's the masses of people who have actually tried to figure it out, not the masses who make Instagram posts saying #StopElon and 'EndEVs'.

Note: I doubt anyone has actually done either of those but you get the idea.

Anyway to put this rambling into real context, should VW really be on the journey to electric world dominance as we are being fed, then technically speaking the ID.3 is where said journey is destined to begin. And I think this is okay, I like the ID.3 very much. It's not a Model 3 by a long shot but I like what Volkswagen have done a little more I think. Of course, starting nearly a decade than your main rival won't have you expecting to achieve god status from the get go. But isn't it amazing how quickly the germans have packed such a punch, on those grounds one does consider the pace of evolution between the competitors and what this might even mean within the short term time frames!

You can like EVs and not like Tesla. You can not like EVs but still like Tesla. Granted maybe you hate everything electricity related, in which case it's pretty much all bad news for you.

Boohoo.

No matter what your individual view, it has become pretty blatantly clear to me that (predictably) Tesla is probably one of the least liked brands. I know, shock horror. And that's exactly what I'm here blabbing very unclearly about. Even those who aren't fussed on....well this stuff really....

...might take the ID.3 to be a 'lesser evil' as it seems to be much better respected than the Tesla despite as mentioned being less impressive on paper. Or did I mention that? I can't remember, and I don't bother looking back very often because I'm not interested in reading what I've written.

As you can tell I take great pride in my work.

Back to it, and so point is, Drivetribe might wanna perk up on the ID3. It's a step forward for EV production in the fact that it's another quality item on the market, and with it's higher range package does perhaps offer a level of competition to the ex-Silicon Valley now Texas based monarchs of the future. Bad news for Elon is good news for the majority of us here. If it weren't apparent my mutual respect for Musk did fade rather, over the course of each of his media muck ups and developments of recent cars and dare I call the Cybertruck a truck as opposed to purposely outlandish show and tell trinket. Okay I won't stand by that in case it goes well. Just know I'm hoping it won't.

I know.......

I know.......

So let's take something from this, to clarify the point of this nonsense, I think we should courtsy to the ID3, for here comes the beginning of an EV race in which this platform as a whole could generally see as a good thing, because it's bad news for Tesla. And bad news for Tesla often serves as good news for the people of the old D-T.

Yes, you just read an ID.3 appreciation post. Hell knows why..... but thank you very much.

Quirky eh?

Quirky eh?

PS: You got me to 40k, and for that I am unbelievably grateful. Hope you enjoyed.

  • I think I would still have a Tesla. More features, and much faster. I don't give a crap about build quality ๐Ÿ˜„

    • Its a point of judgement which I think is wayyyy over-considered.

Beyond key areas like the centre console and bits like armrests and stuff I think you'll really only be looking at most of the interior, not pressuring it to see will it...

    • Dont mind my inability to remain consistent on a topic for anything over 2 minutes at a time, i think much faster than I can type and that shows perhaps๐Ÿ˜‚.

ID3 very good by the sounds of it.

Confused Easter to you too, I have my doubts about...

  • I really, really dislike Volkswagen (in the past 20 years they have made one model I donโ€™ hate). That being said Iโ€™m really rooting for the ID.3, because I got the stereotype described in the article. I hate Tesla even more (Iโ€™d rather a relatively fairly judged unreliable European car that an overrated unreliable basic American car covered in gimmicks made by someone who thinks heโ€™s the second coming of Jesus)
