Litchfield gives the Alpine A110 more power in time for Christmas
If you are a lucky sod who owns an Alpine A110, you can now treat it to a small power bump thanks to Litchfield. They have recently announced their Stage 1 tune package for the lightweight sports car thanks to a simple ECU remap.
This ECU remap now allows the A110’s 1.8 litre turbocharged engine to produce 300bhp and 298lb ft of torque. This is means the remap gives the A110 an extra 52bhp and 62lb ft of torque over the standard output.
Litchfield says that the engine can comfortably produce these power numbers thanks to the new software, and it also offers better throttle response and reduced turbo lag. The numbers make sense as Renault use the same engine in the Megane RS Trophy which produces similar performance numbers.
While an extra 52bhp doesn’t sound like much, do keep in mind that the A110 is incredibly light. With its 1080kg curb weight, the standard car has a power-to-weight ratio of 229bhp per tonne. But with the Stage 1 tune, Litchfield’s A110 now has a power-to-weight ratio of 277bhp per tonne, which is similar to the Porsche 911 Carrera S.
Pricing for the Stage 1 kit is actually rather good. Without VAT, it’s £995 and it even comes with Litchfield’s own engine warranty.
But this is only the start at Litchfield are developing a Stage 2 kit which will include a new exhaust system, a targeted power figure of 315bhp, a suspension kit and even a limited-slip differential.
