Look both ways before pulling out

There's a bigger issue. Mundane? yes. Can cause a crash? definitely.

This will be non-event based on internet standards. However, it does raise a good point on many of the issues people come across when commuting from home to work and back.

On my commute back home from the university, I encountered a lady who perhaps forgot that she's supposed to check for traffic to her left. I proceeded to give her a light honk. She simply raised her hand as an apology and we both went on. No need for road rage was exchanged and it was wrapped up as a boring video on various social media.

But the important thing to remember is that this happens very often in my city. Sometimes it ends up in a street brawl, sometimes it does not. However, this issue can be prevented simply by looking both ways twice. Once as you approach the road, and once before you pull out.

In the part of the world where I live, the driver license requirements and examinations are very soft. Driver's education is also very soft, and instructors often leave out crucial information in their classes. For example, I was never properly taught on how to perform an emergency stop, and I was never tested on it on both of my practical exams.

In any small situations like mine, if the conditions were different, there would have been an accident. If I were to encounter black ice or happened to be going faster than 40 km/h, I would most definitely have plowed right into the Pontiac.

Please be careful on the roads, and do not pull out until you are sure the way is clear.

I'd also like to apologize not because I'm Canadian, but because of the loud music. In case you are wondering, it's Horizons by Moog (yes, the Mighty Car Mods Moog).
