In the above video, Gavan Kershaw, Director of Vehicle Attributes for Lotus, gives a deep insight into the Evija.

The most eye-catching information revealed is that of the driving modes. The Evija will have five driving modes: Range, City, Tour, Sport and Track.

In Range mode, you will have 'just' around 1000 horsepower and 800Nm of torque at your disposal the car will switch between four and rear wheel drive. The City mode will decrease the regenerative braking.

In Tour mode you will have around 1400 horsepower coupled with torque-vectoring. Switch the car into Sport mode and you shall have increased traction levels and 1700 horsepower and 1700Nm of torque on offer.

The Track mode is the one that will surely be the party piece. This mode will give the Evija 2000 horsepower, high levels of torque vectoring and DRS (Drag Reduction System). Yup, DRS is the same tech that is found on F1 cars.

The Evija is going to be one of the most ludicrous British cars to date and it will have all the quentissential Lotus characteristics. Gavan claims that “Lotus cars are very nimble, inspiring great confidence when being driven, and the Evija is no different to that."

  • It's awesome, but who is going to need 1700 Nm of torque?

  • How long with the batteries last with 2000bhp. No details revealed on this front, you only get range with slower driving, who exactly buys a 2000bhp car to drive slowly?

  • It looks awesome. And is that noise in the video the sound of the motors? Maybe they should call it the Howler. I’d love to drive one.
