Lotus has upped their game; The new Exige 380
They're not quite there yet, but good lord is this a step in the right direction.
However much I may try, I can't quite make myself love Lotus' cars as much as i want to. They create some brilliantly talented pieces of kit that really are my sort of thing; raw, pure, minimal driving assistance driving machines. However, there seems to be a lack of drama or a sense of soul in their cars that has been ironed out by intense amounts refinement. But after hearing about the new Exige 380, i'm looking forward for what's to come.
The new Exige 380 with added eyeliner.
The new Exige 380 is Lotus' most powerful car to date, putting out 375hp at 6700rpm and about 302nm of torque. In a car with a kerb weight of 1110kg? 0-60 in 3.5 seconds? Yes bloody please.
Another impressive feature of the 380 are the new aerodynamic capabilities. At it's top speed of 170mph, it produces 140kg of downforce. That's like peanut butter to the roof of your mouth.
It sounds good, too.
Overall, I quite like the 380. It's frighteningly fast, as light as any other car you can get with a roof and doors and it truly embodies what a sports car should really mean, which is quite hard to find nowadays, as most so-called sports cars weigh around 600kg more than the 380. Ignore what other manufacturers claim about their laptops with wheels, this is a real drivers car. Anyway, i'll leave you with some strong pornography.
Oh by the way, it costs almost £70,000, so good luck with that.
