Firstly, I need to say that in certain situations have a car which is quite loud is enjoyable, say at a race circuit. Who doesn't love the sound of a naturally aspirated V10 F1 car revving to nearly 20,000 rpm? But, On the road is this really necessary? Sure, it can be nice to hear a V12 screaming as it overtakes you, or if you are lucky enough as you drive it. I'm not saying that I hate all cars that make excessive quantities of noise or that I don't appreciate certain loud cars. However, I find it infuriating when I'm trying to enjoy a nice walk, run or bike ride (because I'm such a fit and healthy human being, not) in nature to hear some idiot who's only just got their licence and probably hasn't properly insured their car (usually, although not always) going stupid speeds with straight pipes. No, your car doesn't sound nice; yes, you look like an idiot (I've used a semi-colon, fancy). I just don't understand it, in some ways it's even worse in built up areas where more people have to be subjected to their fumes, noise and idiocy. Personally, I have never understood loud cars in the majority of public places, it is quite simply anti-social.
