Maggiore's 308M restomod is $600,000 of Ferrari goodness
Zero electrification, manual transmission, maximum thrills.
Have you ever wanted to own an Italian classic but were fearful of the maintenance costs, old-fashioned safety standards and outdated performance? An Italian coachbuilder by the name of Maggiore has you covered as they have 'restomodded' the stunning Ferrari 308 into what may be considered a modern masterpiece. The result is a 21st century reinterpretation of the Prancing Horse dubbed the '308M'.
Carbon bodywork for minimum weight
Your first question is: why is the price tag so astronomical? For starters, the entire bodywork has been recomposed from carbon-fibre for weight reduction. The wheels have been recreated too with an extra inch (17") added to complement the increased body width (50mm and 100m at the front and rear respectively). Gone are the pop-up headlights in favour of horizontal LEDs, which may dishearten the googly-eye fanatic in you.
Bigger engine, bigger brakes
The hearty 2.9L V8 has been recreated with an increased, 3.1L displacement to crank out 300hp and 221lb-ft (300Nm). It's only 48hp more than the original but the decreased body weight, four-piston brake calipers, Koni racing dampers and new exhaust system should ensure for an exhilarating Sunday drive. And yes, the vehicle is fitted with the original 5-speed manual.
1970s interior with modern touches
The cabin has been crafted from carbon-fibre, machined aluminium, leather and Maharam textiles to make the vehicle feel like the exclusive exotic that it is. The addition of a hi-res sound system and heads-up display bring the 308M into this decade. Luggage sets, wallets and clothing are also tailored for each client to drive home the point that this truly is a special vehicle. If you want to convert your 308 into a 308M, you need to have a cool €500,000 / $610,000 USD / £460,000 burning a hole in your pocket.

Singer territory. Almost. I could live withoud the LEDs, though.
Almost. Having LED pop-up headlights would have been pretty cool.
Nice Check out the 388 restomod by Moto Technique. Issue 278 of Evo magazine. Absolutely stunning.
Now this is automotive perfection. Brilliant shout Martyn!
Perhaps it was because an odd combination of too much wax and too many spotlights, but in the flesh it looks like a (not so) cheap toy version of the original one – it hasn’t happened with the Singer. I can't say anything about the performances though.
You're so fortunate to have seen the vehicle in the flesh! That is definitely too shiny haha. Other than that, it looks quite nice... not $600k nice but still amazing.
An nice update on the original but not sure the 308 is the model that deserves it
Imagine turning the Mondial into a restomod. That's the car that needs treatment!
