Mahindra reveals new Formula E livery, names Sam Dejonghe as development driver

Mahindra Racing announced the winner of its Season 4 livery contest, which will be incorporated on the M4Electro in the 2017/18 FIA Formula E Championship.

United Kingdom's Sean Bull was declared the winner, beating four other finalists, after Mahindra had shortlisted the Top 5 from among the hundreds which entered.

Bull has already designed the cars of FIA F2 outfit MP Motorsport and European F3 squad Motopark, while he has also worked on F2 champion Charles Leclerc and Audi FE's Daniel Abt's helmets.

Along with the livery reveal, Mahindra also named Belgian racer Sam Dejonghe as its simulator and development driver, who joins the regulars Nick Heidfeld and Felix Rosenqvist.

"I cannot wait to work in such a professional environment and contribute to improve race car performance. Due to the specific city racing of Formula E it’s absolutely critical to prepare and simulate the races well," he said.

The 26-year-old comes with the experience of both single-seater and GT & Touring car racing, dwelling himself into the growing all-electric championship.

A partnership with global materials technology and recycling group Umicore and design and technology company Voxdale was also announced.

"We are thrilled at the culmination of this innovative partnership. Mahindra Racing are the first (and only) Formula E team to have achieved accreditation in the FIA Institute’s Sustainability Programme," said team boss Dilbagh Gill.

"We are entirely committed to minimising environmental impact through a strong environmental policy. Our partnership with Umicore and Voxdale further validates our commitment to the eco-revolution by thus completing the cycle of creation, efficient and optimal use, and recycling of materials used in the field of electrical energy.

"Sustainability as an outcome of whatever we undertake is non-optional, everything ahead of that is progress toward the next benchmark," the Indian added, as it looks ahead to the season-opener during December 2-3 in Hong Kong.
