Mahindra starts second half of 2017 Moto3 season at Brno, Albert Arenas returns
The Indian manufacturer will look to end its Moto3 run on a sound note as the second half of the 2017 season kicks off at Brno this weekend.
Mahindra starts its final leg in the Moto3 World Championship, after the summer break with the Czech Grand Prix at Brno this weekend.
The Indian manufacturer decided to pull the plug on its two-wheel racing programme, to pay further attention to FIA Formula E Championship, where it recently secured its best finish of third in the constructors' battle for Season 3.
Mahindra together with Aspar, CIP and Peugeot has nine races to go in the second half of the 2017 season, starting at Brno.
Aspar's Albert Arenas will return to compete in the championship, after missing the last three weekends due to an injury.
"I go into the second half of the season looking forward more than ever to get back on the bike and tackle a run of circuits that I already know," said the Spaniard.
"After the operation I was in a little bit of pain but as the weeks have gone by I have worked hard and felt better every day.
"I have come back from the break with my batteries fully charged and after a lot of work with the physios I have been able to get out for a couple of days of supermoto and a day of enduro.
"I feel good and I am looking forward to getting my feeling back on the bike and being with the team because I have missed them.
"I want to thank Doctor Mir, my physios and my trainer because without them and the work they have done I would not be ready for Brno like I am," he added.
Arenas sits 29th in the standings with two points, while teammate Lorenzo dalla Porta is 27th with similar points in his kitty.
"It is the end of the summer break, during which time I have spent a week on holiday and the rest of it training hard for the second half of the season.
"I am really looking forward to getting back on the bike, it is a long time now since the last race and I will be trying to do the best I can between now and the end of the season.
"I want to make sure I make the most of what we have, starting this weekend at Brno, which is a good track where I will be giving my maximum or even a little more," said the Italian.
Also, in action will be the CIP pair of Marco Bezzecchi and Manuel Pagliani, the former showing some gritty performances to take three points finish to be 25th with four points.
Meanwhile, the Peugeot squad, who announced their switch to KTM from 2018, has both Jakub Kornfeil and Patrik Pulkkinen ready for the second half.
The Czech rider, who sits as the top ranked Mahindra rider in 24th with five points will be happy re-start the season at his home, while young Pulkkinen is itching for more mileage under his belt.
A difficult first half for the Indian manufacturer has put them way behind Honda and KTM in the standings with just the seven points, while Peugeot has five to its name.
