Maini joins Algarve for Monza ELMS round, Aradhya to compete in French F4 series
One returns to racing as another starts his international career.
Having pulled out of his scheduled GT World Europe Challenge season due to COVID-19 pandemic, Arjun Maini will return to racing action in the European Le Mans Series, where he competed last year with RLR MSport outfit in the lead LMP2 category.
He joins Algarve Pro Racing Team in the LMP2 class alongside Jon Lancaster and Henning Enqvist as a replacement for veteran Loic Duval, who will be racing in DTM. The 4 Hours of Monza will be his first competitive in months since he last race in the Asian Le Mans Series.
"I can’t wait," said Maini, who will drive the #24 Oreca 07 machine for the Portuguese outfit. "I’ve been placed in a great seat with an opportunity to achieve a decent finish. I’ll start the Monza weekend on the front foot, capable of getting straight down to business.”
It is the 2020 ELMS season's penultimate round to be held on October 9-11 weekend. It is unclear if he will race in the final round at the team's home ground in Portugal on November 1. His brother, Kush, meanwhile continues in British F3, where he is fighting for the title.
Another Indian racer to compete at international level will be Yash Aradhya, who will make his debut in the French F4 championship this weekend at Paul Ricard. He was to compete full-time but COVID-19 hurt his chances, with the one-make series already done with three rounds.
And so, Aradhya starts in Round 4 with three races to be held during a race weekend. There will be three more rounds to end the 2020 season after this, with Spa-Francorchamps next on October 16-18, followed by Ledenon on November 6-8 and Le Mans on November 13-15.
It is Aradhya's first international single-seater competition after having raced and done well in both Euro JK and MRF F1600 championships in India - two of the only single-seater events held in the country apart from the MRF Challenge (F2000).
