Man & Machine - what is your relationship with wheeled machines?

We all come here because we have a certain relationship with Cars or Bikes. Over my time photographing people's pride and joy, it still amazes me how they are so much more than "just an object". My favorite shoots are the ones where I can tell that the car or bike has more meaning than just a cool item. The one's that have so much of the person put into them or that have been a goal for the owner to get to. The stories and reasons behind the machine are what really make them special to me.

This Yamaha R1 is a milestone to it's owner, a special achievement and meaningful possession. What's your thoughts ?

  • My relationship with my truck is fantastic, it was bought brand new in 1997 by my Grandfather, and he took great care of it for many years it served him well, we used to eat watermelon while sitting on the tailgate on nice summer days, well one day he decided to buy a new truck, which ended up being a 2014 F150 platinum, and he gave his old truck to my stepdad, I forgot to mention its a 1997 Nissan hardbody pickup, he used it for a few years and didn't maintain it very well at all, and then he decided to get a new vehicle too so I got the truck, i spent the next few years returning it to better than new, rebuilding the engine and suspension and upgrading it, it received a lot of love and affection from me and now it's my baby

    • Sounds like it’s really part of the family. Maybe one day you will hand it down to your kids?
