Manthey-Racing turns 25
Celebrating a quarter century of collaboration with Porsche Motorsport
Based in the town of Meuspath, just three kilometres northeast of the Nürburgring, Manthey-Racing has been living and breathing motorsport for 25 years. The company was founded by professional racer Olaf Manthey, who had enjoyed a successful career in touring cars before racing a 911 for the first time in 1990. He won the first ever Porsche Carrera Cup that same year and cemented a love of the marque that would never fade.

In 1996 Olaf Manthey fulfilled a long-held dream to tackle the Porsche Supercup with his own team. In its very first year, Manthey-Racing took fourth place in the team classification before racking up the first of four consecutive wins in 1997.
In 2013, Manthey merged his company with Raeder Automotive GmbH and in that same year Porsche AG acquired a 51 per cent majority stake. Manthey-Racing GmbH now employs around 200 people and runs the works 911 RSRs in the FIA World Endurance Championship as well as the 911 GT3 R in the Nürburgring Endurance Series and 24-hour races.
“When I founded Manthey-Racing in 1996, I couldn’t envisage how the company would grow,” said Manthey. “Thanks to the huge commitment of everyone involved and their dedication to precision, which is what counts in motor racing, we managed to convince Porsche of our competence. Today, the sports car manufacturer even owns the majority share of Manthey-Racing and that makes me proud.”
Manthey-Racing made its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1999 and promptly won the GT class with the 996 generation GT3 R. In 2006 it achieved the same feat with the debut of the new 911 GT3 RSR at the 24-hours of Spa. It followed this with four consecutive wins at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, a race that it has dominated on countless occasions. And with six wins now under its belt, Manthey-Racing is the most successful team to date at the Nordschleife’s famously demanding endurance race.

“Manthey-Racing has been an important partner for Porsche since the racing outfit was founded in 1996,” says Fritz Enzinger, Vice President Porsche Motorsport. “We’ve achieved a great deal in motorsport together, we’ve won many races and titles. The enthusiasm and professionalism of the Meuspath crew provided the basis for this. The two companies have been closely affiliated since 2013 and have expanded their cooperation to include many other areas of business. For this, I’d like to express my gratitude and congratulate the Manthey firm on its 25th anniversary!”
