Mark Webber Auditions To Be The Grand Tour's New Driver
Note: not Tom Hardy, nor Daniel Ricciardo
With the American's unsatisfied ouster from The Grand Tour, the search is on for a replacement. The latest contender for the job is Australian F1 driver and man-whose-last-name-is-not-Ricciardo, Mark Webber.
Webber's first lap was in the brand-spanking-new Porsche 911 GT2 RS, delivering an undoubtedly brisk time, nearly running the presenters over in the process; he is then removed and shunted into a Mercedes-AMG GT R for his second go, which it can be safely said is not his favorite car.
For some reason, he seems to be doing the entire lap in fourth gear, or perhaps there's simply a little bit of nepotism going on, as Jeremy reveals when prompted that Webber is indeed employed by Porsche. Of course, it was still faster than James would have gone round.
The hunt continues.
