Masks have become the new fuzzy dice

If there's one good thing that has come out of this pandemic, it is the ornamentation of rear-view mirrors.

While the COVID-19 pandemic is no laughing matter by any means, some of the things that we have had to do as a society as a response to the pandemic have been pretty amusing. Happy hours and concerts are held on Zoom, which is great because neither one of those things requires finding a ride home anymore. While some folks believe that it is silly to wear a mask (which it isn't. Wear a mask.), companies and crafty people alike have been churning out masks like there's no tomorrow.

It's gotten to the point where if there is a pattern that exists, it's likely that there is someone in the world wearing it as a mask. But we as a collective have not really come to an agreement on where a mask should be placed, while we are driving. Some people think that the center console, cup holder, or the glove box are appropriate places, but a large number of people have decided that the rear-view mirror is the best possible location to hang a mask when they aren't in use.

This has led to a rather amusing renaissance of mirror decorations. While some people hang rosaries, and some hot-rodders still hang fuzzy dice, the motoring public have brought back an old fad.

It should also be said that the amount of sunlight a mask would get on a trip to the shops is incremental in the decontamination process, and in the cases of N95s and surgical masks, could potentially start to break down the plastics and foams in the masks, and make them dangerous to use, but back to the fun stuff.

In short, I thought this was a bit of lighthearted fun that I thought about on my way home from work one day, and I hadn't had the time to sit down and properly write out my thoughts. I would like to personally thank my mother for providing such incredible examples to use as photos, because incidentally, no one is talking about the variety of different masks hanging from car mirrors lately. I for one think that it is a good laugh for an otherwise terrible situation. Much like the fuzzy dice, I hope these don't stick around for too long either. Not because I don't like wearing them, but because they keep fogging up my glasses. Wear a mask.

Do you have any cool masks that you leave hanging around in your car? Are you wearing a mask? Do you have any cool car-related masks? Comment Below!

  • I am going to play adult here. There should NEVER be anything hanging from your rear view. It obscures the view and can lead to dangerous blind spots. Just don't do it. It's illegal in VA. It's a tack on ticket not ticket-able in and of itself. Get in a wreck with something hanging from there and it's a fine.

I had 32 trees hanging from mine in my first car. After my second car I never had anything up there again. I drove fast and needed to be able to see everything at all times. Otherwise you better leave margins for error.

I have many masks in my car now. They live in the center console.

  • Disposable masks are this generation’s cigarette butt.

  • Understood and point taken.

However, virus’ can NEVER be cured. It’s the old statement of curing the common cold. That’s all we are dealing with here. Just a potent one.

Bacteria is another thing (hence antibiotics)

Best cure is exposure to the virus (which is all a vaccine does)

    • How misinformed are you to have the audacity to exclaim that the best cure is exposure? You do know that in vaccines there is only a very small amount of the virus, enough to give you mild symptoms at most, so your immune system can deal with the...

    • And, from the perspective of an American where the virus isn’t too good, it’s too late for herd immunity.

  • You have fully bought into the lies and misinformation out there. Congratulations for being so easily manipulated.

Every mask you show is pointless and the despite what you are told, masks will not remain the “new normal.”

Based on how you write this article, I’m not surprised you are one of the people that wear your mask when you’re alone in the car.

    • ☝️Found the idiot. Bound to be one in a thread about masks

    • I guess you looked in the mirror to find the idiot. The masks you show might as well be made from lace with as much protection as they offer. These masks will not save someone.

  • But will they be as cool?

    • Mine are at least!

    • No need to understand better what “cool” is. But i’ll tell you this, hanging 10 masks on a mirror doesn’t make you cool
