Masks have become the new fuzzy dice
If there's one good thing that has come out of this pandemic, it is the ornamentation of rear-view mirrors.
While the COVID-19 pandemic is no laughing matter by any means, some of the things that we have had to do as a society as a response to the pandemic have been pretty amusing. Happy hours and concerts are held on Zoom, which is great because neither one of those things requires finding a ride home anymore. While some folks believe that it is silly to wear a mask (which it isn't. Wear a mask.), companies and crafty people alike have been churning out masks like there's no tomorrow.

It's gotten to the point where if there is a pattern that exists, it's likely that there is someone in the world wearing it as a mask. But we as a collective have not really come to an agreement on where a mask should be placed, while we are driving. Some people think that the center console, cup holder, or the glove box are appropriate places, but a large number of people have decided that the rear-view mirror is the best possible location to hang a mask when they aren't in use.
This has led to a rather amusing renaissance of mirror decorations. While some people hang rosaries, and some hot-rodders still hang fuzzy dice, the motoring public have brought back an old fad.
It should also be said that the amount of sunlight a mask would get on a trip to the shops is incremental in the decontamination process, and in the cases of N95s and surgical masks, could potentially start to break down the plastics and foams in the masks, and make them dangerous to use, but back to the fun stuff.

In short, I thought this was a bit of lighthearted fun that I thought about on my way home from work one day, and I hadn't had the time to sit down and properly write out my thoughts. I would like to personally thank my mother for providing such incredible examples to use as photos, because incidentally, no one is talking about the variety of different masks hanging from car mirrors lately. I for one think that it is a good laugh for an otherwise terrible situation. Much like the fuzzy dice, I hope these don't stick around for too long either. Not because I don't like wearing them, but because they keep fogging up my glasses. Wear a mask.
