Maverick Vinales leaves Yamaha one year early
Among the substitutes are Franco Morbidelli and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu
It was 2017 when the Spanish rider Maverick Viñales left Suzuki Racing to join the legendary Valentino Rossi in the Yamaha team. In 5 years he managed to finish third in the riders' standings twice, but this week the Spanish rider decided to leave Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP one year early due to too uncertain results.
The management of the Japanese team immediately began the search for possible candidates to drive their M1 in 2022 and the most likely is Franco Morbidelli, currently under contract at the Petronas Yamaha SRT. Razlan Razali, owner of Team Petronas, has already given his availability to the operation but we will also have to wait for the response of Team VR46 which was also interested in the Italian rider.
Among the other riders analyzed for a possible engagement there is also the Turkish Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, currently in second place in the Superbike World Championship. In the coming weeks there should be the decision for the final choice of the rider.
