MAYERL MOTORCYCLES THE WHO : THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON CAFE 'RACER
Based on a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide the Austrian tuner has designed an unusual cafe racer.
Wolfgang Mayerl, director of Mayerl Motorcycles, this year has impressed the world of custom bike building a cafe racer using a 1986 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide as a mechanical base.
It seems madness, and indeed it is, but the Austrian tuner has succeeded in presenting his "The Who", which is one of the very few elaborations for this type of American motorcycle.
The bike was heavily lightened by eliminating the rigid bags, the top box, the external fairings, the mudguards and the front protective shield while the original engine was replaced with an S&S Cycle 1.8 model equipping a stainless steel exhaust system.
Even the original suspensions have been eliminated and new Öhlins shock absorbers in the rear section and a USD fork derived from a Hayabusa GSX1300R in the front have been fitted.
It is rare to see an elaborate bike of this type and I think the result is extremely satisfying, but what do you think about it?
