Mazda's legendary RX-7 was built in 3 distinct generations. The mildly modified example here is from the 3rd Generation, or FD.
Updates which didn't include a major change were further identified as Series. Series 6,7 and 8 were released in the 3rd Generation cars.
Most Australian delivered cars were Series 6 from 1993 to 1996, and a few Series 7 cars were also released from 1997 until the FD was withdrawn from sale in 1998 due to dwindling sales numbers - by 1997 they were expensive!
A few Series 8 cars were brought in as personal imports, but when import laws were revised Australia became a dumping ground for Japanese Series 8s, and prices plummeted.
Prices are slowly picking up as decent cars get rarer in Japan, but FD's still represent remarkable value for money.
This one has been touched up with a new front bar (removing the unsightly number plate moulding) and a massive ornamental rear wing.
