The McLaren F1 was built from 1993 to 1997 and in this period 106 cars were produced. 72 were built for the road, 28 were convrtet to GT-1 cars and 6 cars were prototypes. The F1 was also the first production vehicle to have a carbon monocoque. An other feature that was very special was that the seat was in the centre of the car and was flanked by one seat each side. It was also the fastest sportscar at its time and still remains as the fastest car with a naturally aspirated engine.
The car was powered by a BMW V12 naturally aspirated engine with 636hp and a topspeed of about 390km/h (242mph)
