McLaren unveils a 804-hp roofless bullet
I don't know about you but I wasn't expecting that. McLaren has just unveiled an extreme Ultimate Series roadster hypercar with no roof, no windows and 804 hp. It's called the Elva, a hommage to the McLaren Elva Mk1, a sportscar from the 60s built in partnership with Elva, a now defunct British sportscar manufacturer active from 1955 until 1968, with a successful racing record in the endurance series.
This beautiful thing is powered by a twin-turbo 4 L V8 making 804 hp. McLaren calls it, and I'm quoting, a "ferociously fast open-cockpit car". It does 0-60 in under 3 seconds and 0-124 in 6.7 seconds, which is faster than a Senna.
Even though this is designed a pure racer, it also comes with some creature comforts like the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a gorgeous storage space, just behind the seats, designed to accommodate two racing helmets. As you do.
Production will be limited to 399 units, only for certain markets including the US, with a price tag of $1,690,000. Deliveries will begin near the end of 2020.
