After McLaren had a brilliant qualifying and Sprint, they win at Monza after an astounding drive..

Lewis Hamilton, after dropping down to P4 in the Sprint, got ahead of Lando Norris into turn one, but cut the Della Roggia chicane while trying to overtake his title rival Max Verstappen, and dropped back down to where he started.. Ricciardo had a brilliant start and got ahead of Verstappen into turn one too, which proved to be crucial.

Red Bull pulled the trigger with Verstappen and went for the undercut, but the "Kings of the sub 2-second pit stops", messed up and had a 11 second stop which dropped him down to P11.Hamilton then pitted and came out just ahead of Verstappen, but pushed him wide at turn one, which caused Verstappen to go onto the sausage kerbs and catapaulted his car onto Hamilton's, which caused both to DNF..

This caused a safety car, which proved very good for Lando Norris, who with guts of steel, (dunno if that makes sense or not), got past the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, and ended in an amazing 1-2.. Daniel Ricciardo is currently having a "Shoey" as I type, and sharing it with his teammate.

Meanwhile, a titanic scrap for P3 was going on between Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, which ended in Perez dropping down after a 5-second penalty, although I can't remember for what.. Tell me in the comments please..

George Russell also got some points for Williams in P9, after failing to reach Q3, which came as a surprise to everyone. The Ferrari's making Monza relatively happy in P4 and 6.

This was important for McLaren, who are fighting for P3 in the championship againt the hometown heroes.. Also an important result for Max Verstappen, who would have been coming into this weekend thinking that Lewis would take back the championship lead.

Monza did not fail to deliver last year, and it certainly didn't this year. I hope we have more races like this throughout the season.
