So I was completely wrong, when Mclaren said that there was a new longtail I though that the 600LT had roof mounted exhausts and surely that it would not works as a spider as the exhausts have a tendency to spit more flames then MP's in the house of commons right now. Anyway first impressions are that it looks much meaner than it's roofed sister. Indeed in uses the same carbon fibre monocoque as the 570s spider and the same 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 as well, It will cost you an extra £16,000 for the spider form (nearly 8 dacia sanderos) for the privilege of having your rear neck hairs burnt to smithereens.
In order to counter the weight of having a retractable roof clients can purchase the optional MSO Clubsport Pack, priced at £18,200. This includes carbon-fibre race seats, titanium wheel bolts and a wide range of carbon-fibre interior and exterior parts. Other possible weight-shaving options include the removal of both the in-car audio set-up and the air-conditioning.
The Spider has a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 592bhp and 620Nm of torque meaning that 0-62mph sprint is 2.9 seconds and top speed with the roof up is 209MPH, with the roof down the top speed drops to 196MPH. The roof can be mobile at speeds of up to 25mph, and when the roof is operational there is a wind diffuser to disrupt turbulence in the cabin (*insert cringy aeroplane joke here)
