Meet the 621 hp M850i – the 8 Series BMW by Manhart
When it comes to tuned up versions of cars that are already very powerful, German carmakers rarely show restraint, but that doesn't stop aftermarket tuners from building their own extreme editions anyway. This, for example, is the Manhart M850i. It's more powerful than both a standard M850i and the M8, and it looks more aggressive, too.
It is powered by the same twin-turbocharged 4.4 L V8 found in the M8 but the engine has been upgraded and it now produces 621 hp and 656 lb-ft of torque, significantly more powerful than the 850i, which "only" has 523 hp, and marginally powerful than the 617 hp M8 as well.
Manhart has fitted their own 850i with lower springs and 21-inch wheels and the visual modifications don't stop there because we also find new carbon fibre tailpipes, a carbon fibre front splitter and a carbon fibre rear lip spoiler. The body is black, with golden details here and there, save for the callipers which are blue.
The exterior may be a tuner's delight but inside we find a rather discreet interior, featuring black on black on black trim and upholstery, that would probably be mistaken as standard were it not for the big, bold and golden "MH8 600" signature logo in the centre console.
It looks striking but even though it is more powerful than the M8, it still comes with RWD as opposed to the advanced all-wheel drive system, with an Active M differential, that we find in the M8. So if you're looking for a proper driving machine, the M8 is probably better than this, but if you're just looking for a fun car with plenty of power and character, the Manhart is your choice.
