Mazda has just announced the production of the brand-new CX-50 which is set to release in early 2022 exclusively to the North-American market.
This will be the first Mazda made in the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing plant in Huntsville, Alabama. The manufacturing plant will be a place for two of the world's most successful manufacturers to strengthen their bond.
The partnership between these two motoring giants aims to produce 300,000 (150,000 each) cars per year from just this plant.

So how will the CX-50 fit into Mazda's existing range? It'll fit into the current lineup above the existing CX-5, joining other crossovers such as the CX-9, CX-5, CX-30, and CX-3.
It's a rugged, dependable and decently sized US-only SUV which plans to revolutionise the American SUV market. In 2020, the best selling SUV in the States was the Toyota RAV4, which has been America's best selling SUV for four consecutive years. Mazda's partnership with Toyota can only result in good things for the manufacturer.

The CX-50 will share the same platform already seen in the 3 and CX-30 and will be powered by a 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G engine in both naturally-aspirated or turbocharged forms, both with six-speed automatic transmissions. The CX-50 will also be four-wheel drive which is pretty clear from the sporty and adventurous lifestyle this car advertises.

Mazda have said that there will be an electric version of the CX-50 following its launch and will fit in with the CX-60 and CX-80 plug-in hybrids which are set to launch in the next few years.

SUVs aren't anything new. Even Aston Martin and Lamborghini are doing them. So what makes you think you should buy one? There's an SUV out there for everybody. Whether you like going offroad or need something to carry heavy loads, SUVs are the way forward.
The Skoda Karoq has is currently one of UK's most popular SUVs
But as the areas around us begin to get more and more crowded, is there really a need for another SUV? Well, the figures state that the mid-sized SUV market was the most popular last year, with nearly 7.5 million being sold worldwide.
The increasing trend of installing electric powertrains onto SUV frames should be a welcome idea to petrolheads. Although they might not be everyone's cup of tea, they have helped some of the world's most prestigious car manufacturers to stay afloat.
As mentioned before, Aston Martin released the DBX, one of the most talked about cars in recent years. In the first quarter of this year, the DBX accounted for 55% of Aston Martin's sales. That's just one example why we can do with more SUVs.
The CX-50 might just be another SUV but it promotes an exciting lifestyle whilst being backed by a manufacturing giant. This is definitely an SUV to keep an eye on.
