Meet the Drivetriber is a series of interviews hosted by me, which every week gives you the chance to know some of the marvelous people of Drivetribe's community. Anyone can be part of it. More info, as usual down here.
Today is time to ask some questions to Dash Lam, who, as his name here on Drivetribe is a car enthusiast! Dash doesn't lead any tribe yet, but he publishes cool polls and funny memes, along with articles and spots, so don't hesitate and follow him!
Now let's start with the questions!
Where are you from?
I was born in Los Angeles, where I live now, but my mom is from Taiwan and my dad is from Hong Kong.
What do you do?
I'm currently 13 so I don't have a job. But I plan on becoming an engineer or car designer, or a doctor to follow my father's footsteps.
How did you join Drivetribe?
I found Drivetribe while browsing through the Play Store on my phone back in April 2019.
What's your favorite tribe?
My favorite tribe is Carspotter Central because you get to see the amazing works of art people find on that tribe. I also like All Quizzes because who doesn't like a challenge, and the quizzes are very creative and fun to play!
What started your passion for cars?
I really can't remember, I think I loved cars since I was born.
What's your favorite modern car?
My favorite modern car is the Porsche 992.
What's your favorite classic car?
I love a lot of classics such as the Lotus Carlton, M5 E39, and Delta Integrale Evo. Those are just some of the classics I love.
What's your daily drive?
I'm not old enough to drive yet, but my parents have a 2017 Acura NSX, Lamborghini Urus, and Lexus LS500.
What do you think about Electric cars?
I'm pretty neutral about them. Maybe when my mom gets a Taycan I will decide what I think about them.
Automatic or manual?
Manual of course!
What are your hobbies?
I love collecting diecast cars, learn about tech and video games, and sometimes drawing cars, even though I'm not very good at it.
Tell us something funny that's happened to you in a car...
Ok, long story short. We had a lava orange Porsche 991 Turbo a few years ago which we sold in October 2018. We passed by a BMW X5 with a huge scrape on the left side. Inside I remember were 4 teenagers looking for some fun during the night when this was happening. We pulled into a Ralphs parking lot, and my mom got out to go shopping, leaving me and my dad in the car. Surprisingly, the same X5 parked right next to us (I knew it was the same X5 because it had the huge scrape on the left side and the license plate number was the same). Then, the people in the car got out. I heard the woman driving the car say, "And then there's just this Lambo parked next to us". IT'S A PORSCHE! I don't know if I should've been triggered or laugh. But both my dad and I burst out laughing. Obviously, she wasn't a car person. This happened about a year ago.
Tell us a song that you enjoy to listen while driving...
I love alternative music, electronic, the 80s, and 90s music especially. I don't really have a favorite song though.
What's your dream road trip?
Shipping one of our cars to Australia and driving on the Great Ocean Road or into Germany on the Autobahn. Maybe even Monte Carlo on their tight roads.
Are you a Motorsport fan?
Not really. Rally and endurance racing look interesting though.
Are you a fan of Clarkson, Hammond and May?
Yes, I am a fan of the trio and have watched all Top Gear and Grand Tour episode.
What's your favorite Top Gear/Grand Tour episode?
I don't have a favorite episode but one of my favorite moments of the trio is when in the episode Legends and Luggage Jeremy and Richard review a motorized suitcase and a laptop skateboard, and then Jeremy knocks over a stack of Toblerones and runs into a man on his suitcase. A very entertaining and humorous moment for me.
What do you think about Drivetribe?
I love it. The best social media for petrolheads in my opinion so far.
