Meet The DriveTriber - Liam Gallagher

It's time to ask some questions to...Liam Gallagher, no not that one...

38w ago

Here we are with a new Meet The DriveTriber interview, the category is..."Terribly in late". I'm very sorry to have kept most of these interviews laying for months in my mail account, but this week is all dedicated to them. Anyway if you're wandering what's going on, you can find more info about this series of posts here.

Today my guest is Liam Gallagher, no, not the one out of Oasis, I'm not so famous to get this kind of guests. Liam doesn't lead any tribe yet, but he's very active on sharing polls and spots, have a look to his profile to find out more, and vote in some of his "Would you buy...." polls.

Now...let's start!

Where are you from?

I am from Parker, Colorado, U.S.A., which is a town just south of the Denver Metro Area. I have lived in Parker my entire life, and have watched it go from a small and rural ranching town to a sprawling suburb.

What do you do?

I am a musician and a writer. I play the Upright Bass (the big violin), and I am involved in numerous bands, combos, and orchestras around the Denver area. The writing is more of a side job since I enjoy writing!

How did you join Drivetribe?

I joined DriveTribe back in May, but even before that I internalized a lot of DriveTribe material. I joined because I wanted to be able to connect with fellow car enthusiasts and share ideas and opinions. I also wanted to learn and grow in my motoring passion by supporting my fellow creators and listening to their experiences and stories.

What's your daily drive?

My daily driver is a 2015 Hyundai Tuscon. I have owned the car since June of 2019. It has been a great car for what I need, and you can read a review I made about it on my channel!

What's your favorite classic car?

My favorite classic car is a tie between two cars, the Citroen 2cv and the Volkswagen Bus. I love these two cars equally, and have dreamed about owning either one since I was a child. Those are my top two choices, but I have a plethora of other classic cars I would like to either drive or own.

What's your favorite modern car?

My favorite modern car is the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. I think it is a fantastic sports saloon that has brought Alfa out of the dark ages and into a new light. I also like the BMW 8 Series, Polestar 1, and the new Genesis G90, as they all look amazing and fun to drive!

What do you think of electric cars?

Honestly, I don't really mind electric cars. I personally wouldn't buy one nowadays but in the future I could see myself owning one as a practical second car. I don't think that the industry for electric cars has stabilized yet, and the quality and reliability concerns for electric cars discourages me. I would give the industry some time to settle down and focus on refinement rather than sheer innovation.

Automatic or manual?

Having daily driven cars with both transmissions, I can safely say that I consider both to be equal, as they both have their ups and downs. For having fun, I would pick the manual, but for daily driving I would pick the automatic. If I had to choose, I would actually pick a transmission similar to the BMW SMG transmission, that way I could get control, performance, and practicality all within the same unit. I want the best of both worlds!

What are your hobbies?

9. Music could be considered a massive hobby, but since it's my job I'm going to focus on my diecast collection hobby. Since I was a child, I have been collecting 1:18 scale diecast model cars. I have over 90 cars in my collection, with my first car being a Maisto Porsche Boxster. Unfortunately, I have run out of room in my house to store and maintain my cars, so I have stopped collecting them. Most of my cars are Maistos and Buragos, but they are still gems none of the less! I also am passionate about aviation, I tried working towards a pilots license a couple of years ago but I didn't have the time or money to complete my training.

What's your dream road trip?

My dream road trip is to take a Volkswagen Bus from Barranquilla, Colombia to "El Fin De Mundo" in Argentina. Driving through the Amazon Rain Forest and the endless plains of Patagonia have been a dream of mine. I would be open to really any massive road trip though.

Tell us something funny that's happened to you in a car...

Back in high school, I was on the debate team, and my friends and I would go around to tournaments dressed up in suits. One time we were on a break and decided to head out for lunch in my friend's 1999 Chevy S10 pickup truck. If you know anything about these trucks, extended cab versions have a seat that faces sideways in the rear. Since I am extremely skinny, my friends made me sit in the "Jump Seat", which was covered in garbage and junk. When I managed to squeeze back there, I realized I wasn't sitting on a seat, but a sub-woofer. Yeah, that was a messy and loud ride to Chick Fil A. When I got out of the truck later I realized that I had also been sitting on a ketchup packet and my suit pants were now screwed. As I was panicking, another car pulled up and a couple of other kids got out. They approached me in a single file line, and each gave me a high five, addressing me as the 'Ketchup Man". I refused to ride in the jump seat from that day forward.

Tell us a song that you particularly enjoy to listen while driving...

My favorite song to listen to while driving is "Fantastic Voyage" by Lakeside. Hey come on come along take a ride there is a party going on that ain't no jive!

Are you a Motorsport fan?

I don't watch Motorsport, but I would have to say that my favorite Motorsport is rally racing. I love how advanced and technical it is. I could never drive like that!

Who's your favorite racing driver?

Tommi Makinen, I love his 99' Lancer Evo rally car!

What's your favorite tribe?

My favorite tribe has to be the polls tribe, there is always something going on, and I like conversing and voting on rides and giving my opinion.

Are you a Clarkson Hammond and May fan?

I am a James May fan by far. Watching Top Gear as a kid, I admired James' sensibility, practicality, and realistic view on motoring! James is still my favorite host to this day.

What's your favorite Grand Tour /Top Gear moment?

My favorite Top Gear moment would be the entirety of the ambulance special. I think that episode is the best episode they made, and I think that their creations and scenarios were the best in the series.

What do you think of Drivetribe?

As a whole, I enjoy DriveTribe very much. I think it is a unique and brilliant idea to give car enthusiasts the platform to share, converse, and grow. I hope to continue in my endeavors on this platform, and continue to create interesting content!

Thanks for reading!
