Perfect for a much-needed road trip, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle, e-BULLI concept, produces zero emissions with a T1 Samba Bus produced in Hannover in 1966. With a silent Volkswagen electric motor delivering 82 horsepower, up to 156 lb-ft, there's never been an ‘official’ T1 as powerful as this e-BULLI. The high-voltage battery is housed centrally in the vehicle floor improving the center of gravity. The completely redesigned chassis offers superior comfort, safety and handling, with multi-link front and rear axles with adjustable shock absorbers and coilover struts, plus a new rack-and-pinion steering system and four internally ventilated disc brakes. Hopping into the eight-seat interior, you'll notice the original T1 stylings, but with some definite upgrades. Positioned within a console between the driver and front passenger seat is the new automatic transmission selector lever and start/stop button. There's solid wood, like that of ship’s deck, for the floor throughout, and bright leather tones with a large panoramic folding roof. The cockpit's new speedometer is based on the original, while a digital display provides the driver with a variety of information, including range. Via tablet integrated in the roof console, Volkswagen ‘We Connect’ web portal, informs the driver of further info like the remaining charge time, current range, miles travelled, trip times, energy consumption and recuperation integrated. The cutting-edge, yet authentic retro-style radio provides DAB+, Bluetooth and USB, and is linked to a high-tech sound including an active subwoofer, perfect for the next adventure.
