Meet the Knight Vision R - a carbon fibre AC Cobra for the 21st century
Brilliant or blasphemy?
There's never going to be a consensus on restomods and modern reinterpretations of classic cars. This particular model, which is certainly bound to generate a heated debate, is called the Vision R, produced by Dubai tuner Knight International, and it is essentially a 21st century of the AC Cobra.
The car is strongly inspired by the AC/Shelby Cobra but it is actually made of carbon fibre with a rollover protection system. The front splitter, the front fenders and the air intakes are also made from carbon fibre, and so are the center-locking wheels with carbon ceramic brakes. The tonneau cover and the exhaust system are made of titanium.
So, modern materials were used for the exterior and the same thing applies to the cabin, which features carbon fibre Recaro seats, and what the company calls a "full multimedia suite" with a digital cluster with augmented reality and the inevitable infotainment system.
The power comes from a supercharged 760-hp 5.2-litre V8, working in tandem with two electric motors that power the front wheels for a combined power output of 1,100 hp. That's a lot, especially when you consider the car only weighs 907 kg.
Production is limited to 500 units, each coming in with a price tag ranging from $500,000 to $600,000 depending on how you spec it.
