Mercedes-AMG has unveiled an official image of the Project One hypercar
The hype train is travelling full steam ahead to Frankfurt
The day we've all been waiting for is nearly upon us - the Mercedes-AMG hypercar is set to be revealed tomorrow at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We've had silhouettes, outlines and even a stripped back, naked chassis to pour over. But to add to the hype surrounding the F1-derived hypercar, the PR team at AMG has released a revealing shot of the car's rear end.
What can we see? Well the intake for the 1.6-litre turbocharged Formula 1 engine sits proudly on top of the car's cockpit, swiftly followed by functional vents which we imagine will be used for cooling and venting of both the engine and the hybrid/electrical systems on the car. It lacks a rear wing, but just below the registration plate you can see what appears to be the exit of a rear diffuser/Venturi, showing that the Project One will be more focussed on ground effects than basic downforce.
The exhaust is a bit strange - is it one large central exhaust pipe with two smaller outlets beneath it? Or are they simply some form of mount for the single outlet?
We're not sure what to make of this system...
There's something very CLK GTR-esque about the car's outline, although the front of the car (based off the other images revealed) will resemble something more like an LMP car than any GT1 racer.
The 218mph+, 1000bhp hybrid hypercar will surely destroy lap records the moment it gets to stretch its legs after tomorrow's launch and I for one can't wait to see a twin test between it and the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Whichever car comes out on top, they're both guaranteed to tear the road car rule book up in unprecedented fashion.

can it be called a hyper car if it only good for 218mph
It's called the LH One. Stands for Lewis Hamilton One. .Merc are just waiting for him to win the Drivers Championship and the name will be announced officially. No word has reached me if Vettel clinches the title but don't let that prevent you putting down a deposit. LH has indeed had a hand in the interior design and will sign every car. Roll on the last race.
Hey, just started a new tribe called'Home of the ricer'. Check it out, I'm sure you'll like it.
I wonder how this will compare with the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
