Automotive brands are not a rare sight in the world of esports. Big-name companies like Aston Martin, Audi, Cadillac, Ford, Kia, and many others have sponsored both teams and tournaments alike throughout the years. Riot Games, the developers behind League of Legends, the game that has quickly grown into one of the most popular esports titles around, announced their partnership with luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz. Today, the two announced the creation of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship rings.

Think Super Bowl rings, but a bit classier. These 18 karat white gold rings reflect the blue and silver color palette of the Summoner’s Cup trophy and will be presented to the winning team of the Worlds Final in Reykjavik, Iceland. The outside is embellished with Mercedes-Benz's signature star pattern while the "Summoner", the in-game avatar that represents each player, rests under the custom-cut sapphire. In the middle, serving as the ring's shining centerpiece is a diamond cut into the shape of a hexagon resting in the Summoner's hands. Each ring will be personalized with the player's in-game name as well as the team's tricode.

The entire design process took just about a year, during which members of Riot's event design team joined forces with Mercedes-Benz’s exterior designers. The final product was handcrafted by GOOD ART HLYWD in Los Angeles.

"The Ring was a challenge that we gladly accepted. In the end, we succeeded in bringing together the identities and design languages of both partners in this unique Ring design,” said Steffen Köhl, Head of Advanced Exterior Design at Mercedes-Benz. “We are looking forward to the moment when the winners are presented with the ring at the Trophy Ceremony. There is a real piece of Mercedes DNA in it."
