In 1984 Mercedes-Benz presented the new W124 in Seville, which had to be the linking bridge model between the 190 and the S-Class price list.

Later, once become famous as the first E-Class model, the car was used by many tuner as the basis for high-performance models. The success was strong that this process lasted the entire time of its production span, until 1997.

BRABUS E500 V12 6.9

As it was easy to expect, Brabus prepared the W124 by upgrading several examples of the third-generation E 500 as soon as it was made available in 1993.

Produced until 1995 and recognizable by the new alloy wheels, the car had a new V12 6.9 engine managed by a four-speed automatic transmission.

Able to deliver 509 hp with 710 Nm of torque, the engine pushed the car up to a maximum speed of 286 km / h with acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.6 seconds.

TOMMYKAIRA M30E

Strangely, a W124 was also the second car developed in the history of the famous Japanese tuner Tommykaira. Tommykaira had initially proposed to upgrade Silver Arrow cars before turning completely to the improvement of Japanese vehicles.

Based on a first-class 1988 300E built in a single model, the new M30E featured its dedicated decals, new alloy wheels and the new aerodynamic body kit.

Thanks to the assembly of a sports air filter and a new stainless steel exhaust system, the power of the M103 3.0 engine increased from 188 to 230 hp.

The real masterpiece, however, was the one that AMG made in 1987, which at the time had not yet been acquired by Mercedes-Benz.

The new Hammer 6.0 was developed starting from a 300E, a high-performance variant produced up to 1993 in twelve models all recognizable by the new body kit and the new alloy wheels.

The original engine was replaced with a V8 6.0 driven by a four-speed automatic transmission. The car generated 385 hp with a torque of 550 Nm, allowing the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds with a maximum speed of 303 km / h.

VERDICT

The AMG 6.0 Hammer is an authentic institution of elaborate cars and it makes me fall in love every time I see it, but what is your favourite version?
