Mercedes' latest commercial shows how strong the G-Class is
You have to get used to it
The Mercedes G-Class is an atypical vehicle to say the least. Launched in 1979, the so-called Geländewagen followed an unusual commercial career, to say the least. At a time when SUVs are adopting an ever more modern, aggressive and sporty design, the G-Class has remained true to its military values.
The German brand has made a smooth evolution of its 4X4. The current G-Class, launched in 2018, has taken up the original very square style while adding a strong dose of luxury to its interior. Despite this omnipresent modernity and luxury, the vehicle keeps some particularly old-school elements.
Mercedes reminded us of this in an advertisement featuring the vehicle. A G-Class owner is seen shopping. In the fresh food section, she grabs a bottle of milk and then closes the glass door very strongly, so much so that it breaks.
This scene is of course a nod to the particularly heavy G-Class doors that require a lot of force to close. This is even more true of the very wide boot hinged door with its massive spare wheel.
