In 2017, Michelin unveiled the VISION concept tyre. VISION is unique for many reasons but two of them stick out far more than the rest. First of all, the VISION concept contains both a wheel and a tyre. Secondly, VISION is completely airless.
Constructed using biosourced and recycled materials, the VISION concept is 100% sustainable. All of this sounds great, however, the VISION concept is exactly what the name says it is, a concept.
Four years on and Michelin have finally announced their intentions to produce 100% sustainable tyres by the year 2050.
Currently, Michelin tyres are comprised of over 200 different ingredients, the main one being natural rubber. Last year, 28% of the materials used during the manufacturing process of these tyres were sustainable - it is safe to say that Michelin is currently leading the charge into a more eco-friendly future for tyres.
The video below shows just how these super eco-friendly tyres are made.

good!
Brilliant! Everyone focus on the drivetrain but tyres also contribute considerably to the enviromental damage of cars, so this is a step in the right direction
I like the idea, sounds very cool but it is a concept and concepts don't always come to life...
looks like a sponge
already giving me Trypophobia I hope the real world version doesn't look like that.....
