Misano: Espargaro: Aprilia needs to invest the maximum it can

Aleix Espargaro has labelled 2018 as “one of the most important years” in Aprilia’s history, as the Catalan emphasised the need for the Italian factory to invest as many resources into its MotoGP project as possible.
In the elder Espargaro brother’s hands the RS-GP has regularly shown the potential to place within the MotoGP top six, despite a series of mechanical issues that sidelined him in three races of this season's twelve races.
But that potential alone does not satisfy the 28-year old’s ambition. Perhaps in light of three frustrating results, including another technical failure at Silverstone, Espargaro called upon the factory - and owners Piaggio - to continue this push to close in on rivals Honda, Yamaha and Ducati.
“I'm happy with the improvements we are doing because obviously we see quite normal when we finish in the top ten or top eighth,” said Espargaro, who is 13th in the championship. “But last year they were far from the top 15, the points, in a normal race. So the step we did in eight months is big.
