Misano: Still room for improvement, says pole man Vinales
'The bike is improving now race by race and I am happy that still we have room to improve' - Maverick Vinales.
Maverick Vinales says there is still room for improvement with the Movistar Yamaha after claiming his fourth pole start of the season at Misano.
Vinales edged out MotoGP world championship leader Andrea Dovizioso by 0.162s in a dramatic qualifying session at the Marco Simoncelli Circuit, where the Spaniard says he made an ‘important’ step forward with the factory YZR-M1.
However, Vinales feels he can improve even further as he sets his sights high for Sunday’s race as he bids to close the 13-point deficit to Ducati’s Dovizioso.
“Today, the bike was working really good, especially in FP4. I was happy how the bike was going and I know if I was riding well the Yamaha, I could try to make the pole,” he said.
“Today I tried to ride smooth, careful on the gas, and I think we found something to improve, especially on the riding style and it is something really important. The bike is improving now race by race and I am happy that still we have room to improve. I say thanks to the team because they did a great job today.”
