Monaco Police’s Impound Lot is as Good as a Car Show
Petrolhead YouTuber Shmee150 had been to Monaco over the top marks weekend, part of his European Tour. Over that weekend the local police had taken out a rule - any car which made a racket or a lot of noise would be impounded (not the exact words, general idea though). Shmee150 was there to show us the 60-70 supercars, very expensive cars and tuners that made some noise and disturbed the peace and got impounded.
The impounded cars (seen in the video) include McLarens, Ferrari Speciale and 812 Superfast, Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder, Audi RS models, Porschés and a lot of AMGs. To my surprise in the video there is a BMW M5d and a Volvo XC60, I am really wondering how those two got impounded.
It was said, the Monegasque police impounded cars for just starting up in the morning, impounded due to the sound of a cold start. It is ironic this has happened because Monaco hosts the Grand Prix and that does get noisy. The cars are said to be impounded for up to 5 days and their owners can get fined between 300-1000 euros. This is ridiculous, as now on certain weekends that the Monegasque Police determine there will be a chance the peace might be disturbed by cars, people will not be able to start their supercars because it is too noisy. Monaco is known for their supercars, casino, rich lifestyle and the Grand Prix, we can now add Police's impound lot for car spotting.
If I were the police and to make the most of an opportunity, I would charge a small sum of money for a ‘pass’ to get into the impound lot to see the vehicles, as if they were in a car show. It wouldn’t be much money, but it could serve as an opportunity to raise money for a charity, but, that’s just me. What do you think about the Police's rule and the impound lot car show idea. Let me know in the comments.
