MotoGP: French Grand Prix Qualifying
The Qualifying day is done at Le Mans, this is how the MotoGP grid will look for tomorrows race.
The Frenchman is on pole! Fabio Quartararo judged his final lap to perfection as he took pole in Le Mans for the second year in a row! If the race is declared wet tomorrow it will most likely hinder Fabio's performance, so he will be praying it stays dry! The Monster Energy Yamaha riders will line up first and second on the grid tomorrow as Maverick Vinales joins Fabio on the front row. Maverick must make a good start tomorrow if he wants to battle for a podium!
Over in the Petronas Yamaha box Franco Morbidelli has found himself heading the second row as he starts in fourth place. It seems Franco is well and truly back to his best! In the VR46 side of the Petronas camp there will be smiles as Valentino finally made it back into the top 10. The 42 year old Italian will start the race tomorrow from ninth!
The man who won in Jerez, Jack Miller, is starting in France from the front row after he qualified in third place. The conditions today were perfect for Miller! However, the Championship leader, Francesco Bagnaia, had an awful qualifying as he starts down in sixteenth place!
In the Pramac Ducati box their French rider, Johann Zarco will be slightly disappointed with his fifth place qualifying. However, I am sure he will be in the hunt tomorrow when the lights go out! The replacement rider, Tito Rabat, will start from twentieth tomorrow.
Avintia and VR46 Ducati riders, Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini, qualified in twenty second and twelfth respectively. Luca will be very pleased to end up in the top twelve again, he will be hoping to challenge for a top ten finish.
The Repsol Honda riders have been on good form this weekend! Marc Marquez will start from the second row tomorrow in sixth place. Pol Espargaro will start from eighth place. Both of the Spaniards will be hoping to challenge for a top five finish!
In the LCR garage Alex Marquez has been having a dreadful weekend as he crashed in Q1 but managed to get a lap in that makes sure he will start in nineteenth place. The Japanese rider, Takaaki Nakagami, will start tomorrows race in between the Repsol riders as he starts from seventh.
Miguel Oliveira managed to qualify in the top ten as he starts from tenth place. His teammate, Brad Binder, has not got going in Le Mans as he starts from twenty first! The KTM boys are still struggling with the front end.
The French team, Tech 3, did not have a great qualifying. Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona will start together in 17th and 18th place.
Aprilia make it through to Q2 again today. However, it was not Aleix Espargaro. It was Lorenzo Savadori! The Italian rider made the most of the tricky conditions as he managed to get his RS-GP out of Q1 for the first time in his MotoGP career. He will start from eleventh place. Aleix Espargaro looked set to make it out of Q1. However, what appeared to be early celebrations saw Aleix miss out on his final lap in Q1, which allowed Luca Marini and his teammate to get into Q2. The Spaniard must start from thirteenth.
The Suzuki riders have been having a disastrous time at Le Mans! Neither rider made it into Q2! Joan Mir and Alex Rins will start from 14th and 15th, respectively. Will we see the two Suzuki riders come through the pack like they usually do?
