Mustang R-Spec the limited edition performance Mustang for Australia

As we know Shelby parts are not really tuned for RHD cars. For this the solution came from Herrod Performance. The Melbourne based tuning company collaborated with Ford Australia to create a 700 Hp Mustang with 610 lb-ft of torque, and boy is it good.

To get these numbers Ford and Herrod have attached a Roush supercharger that has bigger displacement than the Mustang's EcoBoost engine, at 2.65 litres, new intake manifold and integrated air to liquid intercooler. Along with this you get new air-inlet system and new fuel rails. All the horsepower is directed from a 6 speed manual transmission, which is the only option of transmission you get.

But, the spec sheet does not end there, you get Harrods active exhaust that has Quiet, Normal, Sport and Race Track settings. The spoiler is called a black rear spoiler, it is the ford Performance spoiler, the same spoiler you get on the Shelby GT350 R.

The R-Spec gets new springs that make the car lower than 20 mm or 2 cms, than the stock Mustang GT. In the handling department - Ford Performance's MagneRide handling pack includes brembo brakes. This is completed with 19" Performance wheels with sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

...they put black where they could....

In terms of appearance, there is a lot of Black on this car. By this I mean, wherever they could get black accents they did it - over the top stipe and side hockey stripes, badges - front, back and side, exhaust, spoiler, bonnet vents, mirror caps, wheels - all come in black. The paint options on the car are four - Oxford white, Velocity Blue and the two new 2020 options - Twister Orange and Grabber Lime.

When it comes to badges - you get a Black R-Spec badge on the rear, a plaque on the inside stating your build number and Ford Performance Scruff Plates (door sills)

On the inside you get Performance seats, Recaro seats are optional extra, being a performance car they should give the Recaro seats as standard. So this makes the Bullitt the only performance Mustang in Australia to have Recaro seats as standard.

You get all other gadgets and gizmos you could require including a B&O 12 speaker sound system and ambient lighting with personalised colours. Safety equipment is a lot including passive anti-theft immobiliser, pedestrian detection syatem and Child seat anchorage points. It is a family car - easy to convince the wife to let you buy it.

Now, How much will this empty the bank account? AU$99,980 plus optional extra for seats and the on-road costs. I did say 'Limited Edition', the production is limited to 500 examples, only for Australia. I think this is worth it because it meant for one and one place only, and I recon this is a better car than other Ford Performance Mustang - Bullitt in Australia and Shelby Mustangs in the rest of the world.
