My 10 favorite pictures of 2019!
2019 has been a fantastic year for me. It was the first time I got to see the Tour Auto in action and not just being a static display at the Grand Palais; I was lucky enough to attend massive events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, or tiny but no less amazing ones like that pre-war winter road-trip. All in all, a great year to be a petrolhead, and to take pictures about it all.
So to celebrate it all, here are my 10 favorite pictures I took this year, in no particular order.
Waiting in cold and damp bushes more than paid off when this bright red Volvo Amazon appeared! - Tour Auto, May
The 1988 McLaren MP4/4 is my all-time favorite F1 car, so getting so close to it was such a privilege. - Retromobile, January
The BMW M8 GTE sure is a big boi, but it's a pretty one as well. I will miss it next year. - Le Mans, June
I always look forward to the Traversée de Paris. The classic cars and Paris go so well together! - Traversée de Paris, January
Cool victory shot of Alonso, Buemi, and Nakajima! - Le Mans, June
The juxtaposition of the Chateau and cool machinery in front of it is one of the reasons I love Chantilly so much. - Chantilly Art & Elegance, July
Shooting from Tertre Rouge with to photo pass is challenging. The cars come very close, are very fast, and your view is blocked most of the time. Which makes this shot all the more rewarding! - Le Mans, June
It takes a special kind of crazy to rally around in freezing November in pre-war cars (and bikes!). So I made sure I captured the lunatics taking part it this! - Le Grand Naufrage, November
The marshalls are always fun to watch at Le Mans. - Le Mans, June
The BMW M1 is one of my favorite designs, and the classic M livery one of my favorite color scheme. A match made in heaven! Or, in this case, a small bridge in the paddock area of Le Mans. - Tour Auto, May
So that's it for this year, but I've got great things to look forward to in 2020: Le Mans Classic, my favorite event, is back; I might be able to attend the Tour Auto on the roads again; and the Traversée de Paris has got some great stuff in stores for us in January. Don't miss it!
