My first visit to the Le Mans 24 Hours was in 2008 when I filmed for Aston Martin. I have never experienced such a feeling of excitement at a race track, both from myself, but also resonating from the 200,000 face fans that adore this historic event. I loved every second of my Le Mans experience and I have been fortunate to have gone back to film on several further occasions, however that first visit will always be that extra bit special.
If you have never been to Le Mans then get yourself there. The whole thing is a festival of motorsport and this includes the drive there and the drive back. Service stations, the channel tunnel, everywhere is mobbed with supercars and petrolhead. The atmosphere at the circuit is the killer punch, it’s incredible. Seeing cars race flat out in the dark is inspiring and then by early morning you can then start to see the battle scars and dirt that the night has dished out. By 3:00pm on the Sunday, emotions are running so high thanks to 24 hours of battle and sleep deprivation.
Just watch the opening of this film to see how emotional everyone becomes after the physical and mental pressures of competing in the greatest motor race on the planet.
