My grandpa had a lot of watches but there are two that interest me mostly. One is a Rolex. I don’t know if it is real or fake so anyone here who could help with that then please do. The other I can’t find anything about it. It’s probably just some random watch he found but it has my initials so I am drawn to it.

Any help is great thanks!

  • Also I still don’t know why the picture quality it so bad. It looks like I took it on a Nokia

  • The Rolex looks fake to me.

The magnifying glass doesn’t even magnify.

And was there ever a submariner with “oyster perpetual datejust ” on the dial?

    • Reference number 116610 seems to match this description. However, the printing on the lower section of the dial does not match up- but it could be an older generation than the one I found.

    • Still, why the “datejust” on the dial?

Isn’t that a tell tale sign of a fake, or am I making a mistake?

  • Also think you have to consider it could be parts of other watches used to put this together- a frankenwatch if you will

  • Does it tick or sweep!? That’s usually the easiest way to tell if it’s a real Rolex or not. A Rolex will always sweep.

    • Rolex is not the only manufacturer that makes high beat movements.

A replica with a Miyota 9000 series or a PT5000 movement would be considered as the real deal, if I should follow your logic?

    • I bet they wouldn’t bother to put those movements into a fake watch
