My money no object dream car: Porsche 911 GT3 Touring with special PTS options
Yes, it's predictable, but do I care? Absolutely not
The most popular question I get asked as a car enthusiast by friends and family is 'what's your dream car?' For a long time, I found this very difficult to answer and actually ended up shrugging as a reply to this question. But ever since Porsche launched the 991-generation of 911 GT3 Touring, I haven't been able to keep my eyes off of them.
I don't have a particularly strong connection with Porsche other than the fact my dad owns one. I guess what fascinates me about them is the way they are engineered and the way they make you feel when behind the wheel. I am yet to drive the brand's flagship model; the 911, but I have driven a 981 Boxster S and the driving experience was unrivalled – and I've driven a Renault Twizy, don't you know.
Anyway, back to the matter in hand. What is my money no object dream car? Well, as I mentioned before it would have to be a GT3 Touring, but if I had the money, I'd like a 992-generation because I could spec it exactly how I wanted (if Porsche allowed me to, that is). I know people complain about its increased size over the previous generation and its sense of grown up-ness but I look past all that and see it for the sublime vehicle that it is.
If you think about it, it is more or less identical to its bewinged sibling, just without the dining room table hanging over its rear-mounted engine. It has more motorsport-inspired chassis, an optional manual gearbox, 503hp, a screaming flat-six, and the ability to put a smile on your face. What more could you possibly want from a sports car?
So if I were to spec one from new, I would have to go down the PTS route which would require me to fork out even more than the car's already extortionate starting price of £131k, but I wouldn't mind because money is no object.
For my spec, I opted for the special paint that added over £6,000 to the total bill. You don't get to select the exact colour if you're a pleb like me, but if I could choose a PTS colour then it would be Jet Green Metallic. The interior would also be a special colour of 'Exclusive Manufaktur' leather called Cohiba Brown. Other options don't really matter because they're things like an exclusive fuel filler cap and an uprated sound system that people who aren't sad don't really care about, so I'll leave those out for now.
And who knows, if I am ever somehow in a position to buy a GT3 Touring then I sure as hell will make sure you all know about it.

Haha I’ve seen one
That’s amazing
Fine choice buddy
Why thank you. When someone eventually buys one for me I’ll ship it over to Dubai and we can take it for a thrash up Jebal Jais!
and then i'd pull up to the ritz carlton in dubai.
If I were to get a GT3 it'd be 997. The steering in the post 991 is better than the industry standard, but soulless and lacking in feel and communication compared to the hydraulic steering featured in pre 997 models. But ultimately my choice is the F1. My favourite is the 3.0 CSL, but the best is the F1 and it always will be.
I have an answer tripping off my tongue if ever asked that. There’s not one car though, it’s probably what my garage would look like if I had the wedge.
Porsche 918 Spyder
Ferrari 250GTO
Jaguar F-Type
I want to find room for a Chiron pur sport, but that’s 2 dream cars and a daily
Now this is a solid list
good but very cliche.
I also struggle to high heavens when that question is presented to me. To make it easier, I say either the Ferrari 275 GTB or the Mercedes 600 SWB (the Große)
Goth excellent choices. I cannot tell you the number of times Nigel and Tim have asked me that question in magazine workshops… my mind goes blank every single time
Ah Tim, I didn't see him much but I do remember him being quite fond of Land Rovers!
