Mythbusters are idiots
There is no reasonable explanation whatsoever why it was decided to destroy the pretty good 35-year-old Toyota MR2.
Classic cars, especially sports cars or extremely rare cars, are more than just vehicles that were once used to get from point A to point B. It’s an element of automotive history that is more important to many than praying.
Automotive enthusiasts can spend months or even years repairing classics to bring them back to factory condition. Unfortunately, there will always be people who will destroy such cars without knowing their true value. All of us have seen or heard of people who inherited a “car from grandfather” and instead of taking care of it like a family member, they rework it like the Toyota Supra from the Fast and the Furious.
Mithbuers Jr, which recently made its debut on American television, proved its complete stupidity. In the fourth episode of the show, the producers purchased the classic 1984 Toyota MR2 in a really good condition and decided to… crush it with a 7016 lbs (3180 kg) domino block. What is not being done for popularity today, right?
Below the published footage on Facebook, on which we can see a disintegrating classic car in the slow motion, hundreds of negative comments have appeared, insulting producers and program presenters. They were accused that they could choose any car (including Toyota Prius, Nissan Juke, or Pontiaca Aztec), and destroyed the extremely rare first generation of MR2.

It depends on how bad it was condition wise. All TV shows and films, especially the period ones will destroy certain old vehicles for filming but these are usually really beyond saving cars or cars that are 10/15 years old. Even the old cars featured in challenges on the grand tour and top gear were complete wrecks.
