NASCAR officially postpones next two races in Atlanta and Miami
Quite literally all sports are shutting down right now. It was only a matter of time until NASCAR followed suit. “NASCAR has decided to postpone the race events at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend and Homestead-Miami Speedway next weekend. We believe this decision is in the best interest of the safety and well-being of our fans, competitors, officials and everyone associated with our sport. We will continue to monitor this dynamic situation as we assess future race events.” NASCAR said in an official press release.
At this time, no information has been given to when the races will be rescheduled. IndyCar has canceled their opening round in St. Petersburg as well as suspending the next three races. Formula 1 has also suspended the season opening round in Australia due to the Coronavirus.
Professional golfer Rory McIlroy said it best, "Today's overreaction could be tomorrow's underreaction." To put it less eloquently, better safe than sorry.
